Airo-5G: A Multifunctional Intelligent Air Conditioner

Airo-5G draws inspiration from the mesmerizing stalactites and interconnected waterways found in the karst caves of Southwest China. This natural wonderland, with its rare fresh air and serene ambiance, served as the creative muse for Lei Xiao. The design of Airo-5G reflects the dislocation and symmetrical structure of these cave formations, infusing a strong Chinese aesthetic concept into the product.

What sets Airo-5G apart is its integration of three functions - air conditioning, purification, and humidification - in a compact and stylish package. By employing different placement methods, users can easily switch between these functions, creating a natural and refreshing atmosphere. The intelligent air conditioner also leverages 5G and artificial intelligence to continuously optimize its functions, providing a seamless and personalized experience for users.

With its versatility, Airo-5G caters to various use scenarios, whether it's at home, during travel, or in the office. This multifunctional approach represents a bold and innovative step towards the future of smart appliances. Airo-5G's technological prowess lies in its seamless integration of hardware and software systems. It utilizes the third-generation ZigBee Internet of Things system, a two-way feedback system, and deep learning technology. Measuring 520mm wide, 110mm deep, and 110mm high, Airo-5G boasts impressive air purification capabilities. Its C-type filter element effectively filters out 99.5% of PM2.5 particles, ensuring clean and healthy air for users.

Airo-5G's interaction is intuitive and user-friendly. Different placement methods activate different functions, and in the vertical state, all functions can be used simultaneously. The system also integrates anonymous health information input from users' mobile phones, providing a personalized and healthy air conditioning experience. By reducing the need for new hardware products, Airo-5G aligns with the concept of sustainable development advocated by the United Nations.

The development of Airo-5G took place at Wuxi Jiangnan University, with the project commencing in October 2018 and completing in November 2020. The design was exhibited in Shanghai in December 2020, garnering attention and acclaim.

Airo-5G was created with the aim of addressing the needs of young people in the context of 5G technology and carbon neutralization. By connecting to the internet and offering continuous function upgrades, Airo-5G reduces resource waste and provides practical and aesthetically pleasing experiences. It caters to the demands of cost-conscious consumers who are passionate about low-carbon future products.

One of the main challenges in designing Airo-5G was the structural layout of the three functions within the limited space. The team had to find the optimal arrangement that met both aesthetic and functional requirements. Airo-5G is the brainchild of designer Lei Xiao and has been awarded the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Products Design category in 2022. This recognition is a testament to its outstanding design, technical ingenuity, and contribution to improving the quality of life.
